OC ELITE FOUNDER & DIRECTORS

MATTHEW HOUSER
FOUNDER & CEO OF ORANGE COUNTY ELITE

Orange County Elite was formed in 2005 by Matt Houser. Matt Houser has been around basketball his entire life. An Orange County native, Matt Houser played basketball at Laguna Hills High School, becoming the school's first basketball player to play professional basketball. Following his high school career, Matt Houser played collegiately for Chico State University at the Division 2 level, receiving MVP honors, and earning first team all conference awards. After college, he started his professional career by playing for BG-Iceline in Germany , becoming the league's leading scorer averaging 24 points per game. He continued his professional career in Europe playing in Switzerland , Portugal and France .

Matt comes from a family with a rich basketball history. Matt’s dad, Phil Houser, coaches at Laguna Hills High School. He would have Matt train his high school girls when he would return home from playing overseas. His sister, Whitney Houser, was a High School First Team All CIF player, winning the state championship for Laguna Hills High School in 1997. Whitney was awarded a full athletic scholarship to the University of Southern California where she played two years of college basketball.

It was while working with his father's teams that Matt realized that he enjoyed the training and coaching side of the sport. This gave him the idea to start a club program that would give girls an opportunity to be coached by not just high school coaches but by college coaches and former professional players who have made the journey through college basketball and beyond.
