TOM TROKEY
CO-HEAD COACH OC ELITE ORANGE
Coach Tom started playing basketball in 3rd grade and continued throughout his college years. Coach Tom grew up in Missouri , lived in Minnesota for 20 years and recently moved to California 3 years ago. For the last 20 years he has coached teams from youth developmental to Varsity High School levels. Coach Tom brings a coaching style of high energy, positive motivation and a builder of self-confidence. He believes and teaches if you want to be a better player you have to be fundamentally sound, that everything in the game comes from fundamentals, they are the roots of the game. That basketball is a learning experience just like life, to be enjoyed and that a key to each success is preparation both physically and mentally. With a shout praise, whisper criticism approach he inspires self-esteem, confidence and belief. Coach Tom’s favorite game statement is “ITS TIME TO ROCK N ROLL! He believes JOHN WOODEN said it best “What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player”.
